OVERVIEW

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus, which is home to 11 separate resident organizations. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival.

Matrons perform housekeeping services in concert halls’ restrooms. They primarily work during, before and after concerts, events and major presentations in Lincoln Center’s world class concert halls. Matrons provide Lincoln Center patrons with exceptional customer service, ensuring that all interactions are of the utmost quality. Matrons greet and assist patrons in a friendly and inviting manner.

The role of Matron is a part-time position and is on a performance call and as needed basis, based on the events scheduled in the halls. Matrons are generally scheduled for 4-hour shifts at a time, and hours can vary weekly and will include daytime, evening, late evening and weekend shifts.

The Matron position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”) between Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Local 32BJ SEIU. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to Lincoln Center’s policies and the CBA. Paid time off and health benefits are provided, subject to the applicable qualification periods of the applicable benefit plans.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain cleanliness of women’s restrooms and locker rooms of the Concert Hall
• Monitor women’s restrooms during walk in, intermission, and exit of performances.
• Clean all women’s restrooms after performances and assist in back-of-house cleaning as-needed.
• Provide high level of customer service to all patrons.
• Politely request and/or remind patrons to comply with house policies.
• Acquire extensive knowledge of facilities to give accurate directions for all ancillary spaces (i.e. water fountains, coat check, intermission bars, etc.)
• Track inventory of cleaning supplies and report any necessary repairs.
• Effectively resolve any problems that need to be addressed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate a polite, patient and helpful attitude
• Flexible availability is a must, including being able to work during matinee, evening, and weekend performances
• Ability to lift at least 25lbs and to stand for varying periods of time; such requirements to be performed either with or without reasonable accommodation
