Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus, which is home to 11 separate resident organizations. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Temporary Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting various needs of the Human Resources department. The primary focus of the Temporary Human Resources Generalist position is recruitment. This temporary position will also provide support in other functional areas of the department, including benefits, HRIS, data entry and administrative duties.
The approximate duration of this temporary assignment is December 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.
Specific responsibilities include:
* Recruit for positions across all areas of Lincoln Center, including regular, full-time union and non-union represented positions, as well as temporary, part-time, and seasonal positions.
* Partner with department managers to understand their department structures, open position needs, goals and challenges.
* Manage all aspects of the recruitment process for assigned positions, including: writing and editing job descriptions, posting advertisements, conducting reference checks, processing background checks, and extending verbal and written offers.
* Maintain strict compliance in accordance with legal guidelines and Lincoln Center’s standards.
* Coordinate internal set-ups for new employees, by working with Information Technology, Administrative Services, Security, Guest Services, Payroll, etc.
* Prepare and process all required paperwork for new employees.
* Assist with the administration of employee benefit plans, including but not limited to: medical/dental insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Life & ADD insurance, retirement plans, voluntary benefits, worker’s compensation and disability insurance;
* Provide guidance to employees regarding employee benefit plans -- communicating plan coverage and assisting employees with resolving complex claims.
* Provide support in all other functional areas of Human Resources on an as-needed basis, including benefits, HRIS, compensation, employee events and various administrative functions.
* 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with the primary functional focus in the area of recruitment/talent acquisition.
* Demonstrated success with increasing staff diversity through recruitment practices.
* Proven track record of recruiting for many positions simultaneously, with successful placements in a timely manner.
* Knowledge of applicable benefits related regulations, such as ACA, FMLA, worker’s compensation, disability, COBRA, etc.
* Expertise with HRMS systems; ADP/Workforce Now a plus.
* Some experience administering retirement plans, including defined benefit pension plans, as well as 403(b) or 401(k) a plus;
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills; must be able to explain benefits plan details in a clear, easy to understand manner;
* Ability to quickly understand the intricacies of a complex organizational structure.
* Must be a proactive project manager and strong team player.
* Knowledge of employment law and best practices relating to hiring.
* Ability to be flexible with changing priorities.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
