Temporary Technical Supervisor




Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series.

In addition, LCPA supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming. Further, LCPA supports initiatives related to events at the David Rubenstein Atrium, LC Kids, as well as numerous key institutional initiatives and projects.

Lincoln Center’s Programming Department is the producer of Great Performers, the White Light Festival, American Songbook, and the Mostly Mozart Festival. Presenting in various performance spaces on Lincoln Center’s campus and throughout NYC, the Programming Department oversees all aspects of these performance series and festivals – from the artistic vision to the production of the concerts, including related educational activities.


Reporting to the Director, Contemporary Programming, this position is responsible for

providing the day to day technical management of producing concerts, operas, musicals, theater, dance and visual arts installations in the Mostly Mozart Festival and the White Light Festival. The Temporary Technical Supervisor will also work closely with the Producer of Contemporary Programming.

Responsibilities include:

Managing all the technical needs of the productions in the Mostly Mozart Festival and White Light Festival including scenery, lights, video, audio and costumes. This would involve planning and implementation of these elements.
Working with producer in scheduling meetings, rehearsals and productions.
Collaborating and work with producer in creating and managing budgets
Working with venues in scheduling time and labor
Supervising load-ins, technical rehearsals and load-outs, overseeing and assisting technical crew as needed.
Ensuring safety of artists, running crew and additional staff involved with the individual productions.
Assisting in recruiting and training additional temporary technical staff for individual shows.


5 years of experience working in technical management for either opera, theatre or dance
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge and past work experience in foreign technical theater
Must have a thorough understanding of technical theater, including lighting, sound, video, scenery and rigging.
Proficiency in theatrical technical software, such as Vectorworks and AutoCAD.
Experience and facility with financial spreadsheets
Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be able to work on flexible schedule, such as weekends, evenings, holidays and overnight hours
ANTICIPATED DURATION: The approximate start date for this assignment is August 13, 2018 with an anticipated end date of November 30, 2018.
