DESCRIPTION

The Accessibility Intern will be part of the Accessibility and Guest Services team, focused on accessibility programs and planning, including:

• Access Ambassadors, a job training program for students with developmental disabilities, teaching lessons in schools, providing job coaching during shifts, and modeling and training front-of-house skills.
• Planning and administering the Passport to the Arts program for children with disabilities and their families
• Providing administrative support for Lincoln Center Moments, a program for people with dementia and their caregivers, including registration, staffing, working with educators and collecting surveys for research study
• Documenting access projects and contributing editorial content, both online and in print

This paid intern will report to the Assistant Director of Accessibility, and work collaboratively across departments to support and create new accessibility initiatives, including a job training program for teens and young adults with developmental disabilities, and programs for children with disabilities and individuals with dementia. This intern is required to work in the office 2-3 days per week and have flexible weekend and evening hours to staff performances.  This is a season internship opportunity for the Spring of 2017.

APPROXIMATE DATES:  February through May 2017.

The ideal candidate is a current or recent undergraduate student in Education, Museum Studies/Education, Social Work, Disability Studies, or other similar programs. 

QUALIFICATIONS

This internship might be right for you if you have:
• Demonstrable experience working with people with disabilities and a passion for inclusion and advocacy in the arts

• Can bring a unique perspective to this internship and able to work well with others

• Excellent verbal, face-to-face, written communication skills, and research skills and are comfortable interacting with the public in a pleasant, professional manner

• Are highly skilled with MS Office, including MS Word and MS Excel

• Are attentive to detail

• Are enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible, with a great sense of humor
