Public Relations Intern


Lincoln Center Communications Department

The Communications Department is responsible for defining, developing, and overseeing the overall messaging and media strategy for LCPA’s performances, events and programs, and institutional initiatives. Comprised of three areas—public relations, social media, and original editorial content—Communications operates within the External Relations Department and collaborates closely with senior staff, as well as the marketing and digital teams.


Internships with Lincoln Center Public Relations are designed to provide graduate students or college students who are pursuing, or considering pursuing, careers in arts administration, arts education, or public relations (especially in entertainment or the performing arts) valuable, hands-on experience in all aspects of performing arts publicity with one of the world’s leading performing arts organizations.

Under the guidance of senior staff members, you will be actively involved in creating, executing, and evaluating a successful publicity campaign. Tasks and projects will include: researching and gathering artist background materials; editing/writing press releases; assisting with coordinating electronic distribution of press releases; coordinating press tickets; tracking/compiling press clips; preparing statistics on press coverage; and managing press ticket distribution at events. The Intern will have the opportunity to participate in brainstorming sessions and other weekly meetings and occasional outings with the full Communications Department. In addition to primary duties focused on PR, the Public Relations Intern will support the social media unit as needed.

This internship might be right for you if you are:

• Passionate about public relations, media strategies, and brand building
• Experienced with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat
• Knowledgeable in MS Office, especially Excel
• Excellent in writing and editing
• Able to work well with others
• Highly attentive to detail and punctual
• Comfortable communicating with members of the press in person, on the telephone, and over email
• Enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible, with a great sense of humor
• Able to work evenings and weekends
• Able to carry 30 pounds
• Experience and/or an eye for photography and videography preferred

Interns are paid $15 an hour for a 20-hour work week, which will include evenings and weekends. This is a seasonal position from mid-January through to mid-May of 2019.
