Enjoy the music and tales of the founding father of jazz...Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong! Armstrong's recordings forever altered popular music and redefined elements of life the world over. Join Grammy Award-winning jazz historian Loren Schoenberg and his young, vivacious band of musicians, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem All Stars for a delightful adventure through the tunes of the world's most beloved trumpeter. Performance includes a Q&A with the artists.

Bio

Loren Schoenberg is a Grammy-winning jazz historian, celebrated saxophonist and band leader; in addition he is the Artistic Director for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. He has been a faculty member at The Juilliard School, the New School, the Manhattan School of Music, William Paterson University and Long Island University. His band, The National Jazz Museum In Harlem All Stars is an ever-evolving group of young, inspiring artists who breathe new life into the timeless art form of jazz. Mr. Schoenberg's prolific writings have appeared in The New York Times, The Oxford Companion To Jazz among others, and in 2002 his book The NPR Curious Listener's Guide to Jazz was published to much acclaim. He has played and recorded with Benny Carter, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Heath, Buck Clayton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
