Danny Rivera & Nelson González: Obsesión

The American Songbook story includes the contributions of Latin composers and performers, from Central and South America, the Caribbean, and within the U.S. Two noted Puerto Rican musicians whose passionate music informs the Latin American Songbook are Danny Rivera – a vocalist known as “the National Voice of Puerto Rico” – and Nelson González, a master of the Cuban tres guitar. Working together for the past 12 years they have reinvigorated the classic bolero – sultry, slow-moving music sung to the accompaniment of guitar and acoustic instrumentation. The result of their collaboration – the recording Obsesión - highlights Rivera’s “rich bel canto voice, sensuous and vulnerable” (Jazz Weekly) balanced with González’s tres guitar musings, while treating these classic songs of love, emotion and desire with due respect.

Tickets start at $35
